Hermitage Beautification

Tree ClipartHermitageTN.org would like to encourage, promote and participate in a number of Beautification Projects  around our little town. Beautification will benefit the residents, visitors, business owners, future residents, property values and the environment. Simple things, such as adding landscaping in key locations, cleaning up unsightly areas and commercial face lifts will help tremendously in this process. Please keep your eyes open for opportunities and submit them. Better yet, make it happen, record it and let us share it with the community. Visit Hermitage Beautification and check back regularly for successful project updates and media.

Weather Station Willis

Mike Willis, of Hermitage, has a personal weather station and a wonderful website displaying lots of real time weather data. The station is powered by a Davis 6153 Wireless Vantage Pro2 weather station. comprised of an Integrated Sensor Suite (ISS) and an anemometer for wind speed and direction. The site and its data are collected using Weather Display, Weather Display Live, and GRLevel3 Nexrad Radar software running on a dedicated server and is fully automated. The data is collected every 2.5 seconds and the site is updated every 5 minutes. Live Weather is updated every 3 seconds. Check it out! It is quite impressive. Thanks Mike!

Neighborhood Forums

HermitageTN.org is hosting Individual Neighborhood Forums. Now you can get together with your neighbors online to plan a neighborhood yard sale, or block party, share recipes, discuss neighborhood safety or other issues. Start a Neighborhood Watch Program or a Neighborhood Gardening program. You could also get together and decide on one garbage company for weekly pick up, possibly getting a discount. Another issue is property values. The fact that yours is a close knit neighborhood, can increase value. Give the forums a try. I have made them somewhat private, so only registered members of HermitageTN.org can view or post messages. I think it's best to limit each forum to the folks that actually live in that neighborhood. There is also a need for moderators in each neighborhood to keep an eye out for spam, non-neighbors and "keep it clean". Some of the neighborhoods are up already and if your don't see yours, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and I'll get it right up.
